John has completed many commissions and would be delighted to work with you to produce a personalised artwork for your home or a special gift for a loved one.
Please contact John to discuss your needs.

The commissioning process is highly collaborative with several stages:

  1. A budget, time frame and subject matter are agreed.
  2. A 50% deposit is paid prior to work commencing.
  3. A painted sketch of the work is presented to the client for approval.
  4. Work in progress shots are supplied throughout the process so you can see the work evolve and also have the opportunity to provide input and make any adjustments along the way.
  5. The final work is approved and final payment taken before handover.
  6. Please note that the copyright for the completed work remains with the artist.

This commssion was for a client living in Paris and was completed within a tight deadline as it was required as a surprise Christmas gift.  The client provided a number of great photo references which provided a good feeling for the dogs’ personalities and physical appearance.

Client Feedback
I had been living with a family in Paris for 6 months. As a thank you, I wanted to get them something meaningful and special for their Christmas present. I commissioned John to paint their two little dogs, Luigi and Lucius. I wanted something that captured their personalities and their close brotherly bond. John helped me choose the most appropriate picture and sent me progress images regularly. John was also very efficient- he had completed the artwork and sent it to France within 4 weeks of our first discussion. The family and I love the final product. It was the perfect gift. Thank you again John!

This client, located in the USA, is a dog enthusiast and wanted a portrait of her dog ‘family’ comprising of twelve adorable canines.  She had a specific size requirement as it was to hang above a fireplace.  Working from many photos, John pieced together this pack.  The painting was rolled and sent in a tube to save on freight costs.  The work was then stretched locally.

Client Feedback
I had always wanted a painting done of all of my dogs to hang over my fireplace. I contacted John and the process started. It was super easy, I supplied photos of my dogs and John took those photos and found the best way to arrange them all in one large painting. Along the way we received numerous updates on the paintings progress which included photos and video of the progression. I was thoroughly impressed. Once the painting was complete John wasted no time in shipping it to us and my husband and I are thrilled. I would highly recommend working with John, his process is very clear and easily understood and just easy to work with. Thank you John I will always treasure this painting…..

‘Miah’ was completed as a surprise 40th birthday gift and is a memorial portrait of a family dog which had recently passed away.  The client had a favourite photograph of the dog which was used as a reference to complete the work.

Client Feedback
I commissioned John to paint our Staffordshire bull terrier Miah, after we sadly lost her in 2016. John was not only professional in his management of the work but also captured her character perfectly and with such beautiful detail. John was able to provide progress images to ensure my confidence in the finished piece and following delivery John organised a digital copy to allow me to use our artwork in other applications ie greeting cards, homewares. A really great service and such a talented artist. I’m absolutely thrilled with my ‘John Klein’ original.

‘Cornucopia’ was also completed as a 40th birthday gift. Each flower has a special meaning reminding the commissioner about life events and family members past and present.  The client provided many photo references of flowers that she liked and these were woven together to complete the work.
